Description
The ProbeSeq Neurofilament Light Chain (NfL) Nanobody is a recombinant single-domain antibody (VHH) engineered for high-affinity and selective binding to human neurofilament light chain, a structural cytoskeletal protein released into circulation following neuronal damage and axonal injury. This nanobody supports research-use assay development, neurodegeneration biomarker detection, and advanced biosensor integration.
Neurofilament light chain is widely recognized as a sensitive biomarker of neuroaxonal injury and is extensively studied in multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, traumatic brain injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and other neurodegenerative disorders. Elevated NfL levels reflect neuronal damage and disease progression, making sensitive detection critical for neurological research, disease monitoring, and development of rapid diagnostic technologies.
Derived from camelid heavy-chain antibody architecture, this nanobody consists of a single monomeric VHH domain (~15 kDa) providing strong antigen recognition, rapid binding kinetics, and exceptional structural stability. Compared with conventional antibodies, nanobodies offer superior thermal stability, efficient surface immobilization, and reduced steric hindrance, enabling high-performance detection in electrochemical biosensors, microfluidic platforms, and miniaturized diagnostic systems.
Typical assay workflows use sample input volumes ranging from approximately 5–50 µL depending on platform configuration and detection method. The nanobody is compatible with serum, plasma, cerebrospinal fluid, and buffered biological samples following appropriate assay optimization.
